Downs After Dark 2019

Well, it wasn't the Kentucky Derby; but Downs After Dark was a really fun trip up to Louisville. I flew up Saturday morning (9/28/19) with Kevin; got picked up at the airport by Travis and Stephanie; hit up downtown Louisville at Troll Pub and a tour of Old Forester Distillery with all of us plus Davie and Ragains; dinner and drinks at Captains' Quarters and went to the races for the rest of the night. We did try to finish the night up downtown Louisville at the Tiki Bar but that did not turn out so appealing (Purple Parrot Tiki Bar on Perdido Key is better by far); Davie and Ragains bailed and I finished the night with Travis, Stephanie and Kevin at the Omni (speakeasy with a bowling alley) and then a pizza joint (top of the hill above the Troll Pub). It was an amazing day; and Sunday, I think, did not pale in comparison with the whole day at Churchill Downs on Millionaires' Row for brunch and races and then Derby City before I flew back to Florida with Kevin.

Two Days. Amazing Trip. Let's Do It Again!

Where's our ride? We at SDF!

Troll Pub

We played oversized Jinga in the alley behind Troll Pub. Always an awesome time.

Old Forester Distillery Tour
Next time, I want to push the green button!
This was my second tour of the Old Forester Distillery downtown Louisville. I still love it. I love their marshmallow candies better than their whiskey though (sorry).

Old Forester Tasting. Three Drinks and a Marshmallow.

Downs After Dark (Before Sunset, in the box)

We had race programs... absolutely no use to us.

Box Seats for Downs After Dark with Kevin, Davie, Stephanie, Chris and Travis
It was a little hot Saturday night, but Travis did hook us up with box seats... and there was no rain! These box seats were covered anyway.

Millionaires' Row

We all had brunch on the 4th floor for Millionaires' Row - WE LOVED IT! I have kinda snuck in there before with Mike, but that was many years ago. Look at those curls! I'll get my hair cut soon. Millionaires' Row is now our Kentucky Derby destination for 2020. Send me your money.

Next to the Spires. Slate roof and all.

Both Spires

Thanks, Churchill Downs. We had an amazing trip. You are exemplary hosts. Until next time!
